Windowing hen's egg for developmental studies

Image
Windowing hen's egg for developmental studies This video is made for B. Sc Zoology Students. It demonstrate the technique of preparation of window on hen's egg for developmental studies. The learning Outcomes are: Students understand the anatomy of hen’s egg. Students recognize germinal disc. Students list the developmental stages of embryo Students state the uses of windowing. Students do the technique better in the real lab having gone through the video. #Bsc #zoology #Chick #embryo #practical #learningoutcomes

Improvised experiments to study behavioral responses of Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly)

Image
Improvised experiments to study behavioral responses of Drosophila melanogaster   (fruit fly) Experiments are vital to train the students in scientific method, to develop creativity, problem solving ability and psycho-motor skills. Incidentally, from easily available materials inexpensive experiments are improvised to study the behavioral responses of fruit flies to various stimuli like light, gravity, temperature and chemicals (food). The effectiveness/ applicability of the experimental setups are tested with use of three strains of flies viz. red eye, sepia eye and white eye and the results are being published. Further, these experiments can be carried out even at home and will give an insight to the learner to design such experiments/ projects for other organisms. Moreover, these experiments are designed especially for the students of IX – XII class to go beyond text book and to enjoy the spirit of science. #lowcostexperiments #scientificmethod #problemsolvingabi...

Counting of total WBC and RBC

Image
Counting of total WBC and RBC This video demonstrates about how to count total WBC and RBC for the the B.Sc. Zoology students. It aims to develop the skill of blood collection, dilution, charging, counting, drawing etc. It also intends to train the students in scientific method through small projects and inculcate scientific temper.

Study of Barr body in buccal epithelial cells of female

Image
Study of Barr body in buccal epithelial cells of female This video is made for B.Sc. Zoology students with the following learning outcomes: 1. Students understand the dosage compensation mechanism. 2. Students spot the location and know the number and frequency of Barr body. 3. Students list the practical implications of Barr body. 4. Students do the experiment better in the real lab having gone through the video. #dosagecompensation #frequencyofBarrbody #BScZoology #Practicals
